PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
As Semester 1 comes to an end, I am appreciative of the work the staff and students have put in, together with the support of parents and carers, to complete our learning intentions for the semester and participate in the many aspects of school life.
On a positive note, I am pleased to inform you that that we were recently reaccredited as a Level 3 Visible Learning+ Certified School. Visible Learning is an evidence-based approach to education that emphasises making student learning processes and outcomes visible to both teachers and learners. It is based on the research of educational expert Dr John Hattie. The Visible Learning program here at St Joseph’s School involves the development of students as visible learners, implementing measures to closely monitor student progress, identifying and implementing the most appropriate way to provide students with effective feedback and developing collective teacher efficacy (teachers working together to improve student outcomes).
Earlier this term, the school also successfully completed a NSSAB (Non-State Schools Accreditation Board) review. The NSSAB review process is a formal evaluation conducted to ensure that non-state schools in Queensland meet the legislative requirements and accreditation criteria necessary to operate as a school. It focuses on areas such as governance, curriculum, student welfare, and educational outcomes. Again, I am thankful to all staff for their work to ensure the success of the school.
Student reports will be published online on Friday. Please take the time to reflect with your children how they have progressed this semester; then set some goals for improvement, with your support and engagement in their learning, in Semester 2. Feel free to contact your children’s teachers for further feedback or clarification around your children’s progress.
I wish all a restful and safe break.
