PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
It has been a very busy time over the last two weeks with our students and staff enaged in their learning and many co-curricular activities.
It has been pleasing to see the choral, musical, dramatical, debating and dance talent of our students on display at the Border District Eisteddfod. We are blessed to have the opportunity here in Stanthorpe for our students to be involved and to have so many staff and parents ready to support. Well done all.
Last week we had an external School Capability Assessment to determine if we retain our Visible Learning Certified Plus School accreditation. Sean Watt from educational company Growth Ed lead the assessment, meeting with teachers and students to discuss learning in the school. Growth Ed is a company that focuses on Visible Learning, the work developed by leading education researcher Professor John Hattie. They help schools and organisations understand and implement Visible Learning principles to improve student learning and achievement. Sean reviewed evidence about our teaching and learning programs, our data and school policies and procedures. He was very impressed with what he heard and saw and complemented the school on the incredible work of teachers and students over the years. Subject to Professor John Hattie’s final endorsement, we are confident that we will be reaccredited.
As we head into the end of the semester, energy levels start to wane for all. I remind everyone we need to keep focusing on our learning and living out our Mercy values.
God Bless
