Catholic Education Week

Catholic Education Week

Last week was Catholic Education Week for Catholic Schools and Parishes in the 5 Dioceses of Queensland. This event is held each year to promote the special ethos of Catholic Schools and to highlight the great things that happen in Catholic Schools every day. The theme of this year’s celebration was, “Discovering New Horizons.”

The week commenced with the celebration of Mass on Sunday. Staff and students were involved in the Mass with the St Joseph’s Choir leading the singing. A morning tea for the Parish and School community was held after Mass.

A highlight of this week was the showcase held at the Piazza on Tuesday 31st July.  Performances by the band, choir, Robotics Club and classes reciting poetry, as well as a sports exhibition, kept the crowd entertained for 3 hours. A sausage sizzle was also held with donations going to Orange Sky Laundry.

Students enjoyed a Pupil Free Day on Friday 3rd August whilst staff attended the Bishop’s Inservice Day at St Saviours College, Toowoomba.

It was a wonderful week celebrating all that is special about Catholic Education and being part of the St Joseph’s School and Parish community.
